This course explores the cultural, social, and political context of Spain in the late 19th century, focusing on the impact of industrialization, the role of women, key historical events, realism and naturalism in literature, key figures and authors, literary works and movements, literature and politics, literary criticism and prizes, depiction of social classes and the human condition, and the role of religion and other themes.
